The protection of the national and world cultural heritage items is one of the most important issues that the contemporary society is faced with. In this regard, for the specialists of the Cultural Heritage Conservation-Restoration Centre of Iasi, founded in 1975, the recuperation of the values of the past is not only a wish but the passion of their lives. The Cultural Heritage Conservation-Restoration Centre within “Moldova” National Museum Complex of Iasi includes in its functional structure, several sectors: physical-chemical and biological investigations, restoration of metal items, restoration of ceramic, porcelain or glass items, restoration of parchment and paper, restoration of textile items, restoration of paintings,  restoration of wooden items and restoration of leather items.

Due to the complex structure of its activity and the wide geographic area of the end-users, the Cultural Heritage Restoration-Conservation Centre in Iasi is one of the most important organizations of its kind within Romania. Due to the competence and acknowledgement of the activity in the above fields, the specialists of the Centre in Iasi restored very valuable items belonging to the collections of “Peles” National Museum, Cotroceni Museum, the National History Museum of Romania, the National Art Museum of Romania, Metropolitanate of Moldavia and Bucovine, “Mihai Eminescu” Central University Library”, etc.

At present, conservation-restoration activities go hand in hand with other museum activities but also with the latest results in the field of research and development worldwide.
