"Moldova” National Museum Complex in Iasi, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Religious Affairs and National Heritage, the County Direction for Culture, Religious Affairs and National Cultural Heritage, the Metropolinate of Moldavia and Bucovine, the National Institute of Historical Monuments, the Academy of Scientists of Romania – Iasi Branch and the Romanian Academy – the Commission of History of the Cities in Romania, the National Union of Historical Monument Restorers, the Mayoralty of the City of Iasi, announces the 11th edition of the National Symposium "The Monument – Traditie and Future”, which shall take place during the period 1 – 4 October 2009 at the Museum of the Union, situated at 14, Lapusneanu str., Iasi.
The Symposium has been during the last years a prestigious event in the field of research, conservation and restoration of the historical monuments in Romania, the present edition approaching the following themes:
- The Church – monument and witness of the architectural and artistic treasure ;
- Restoration as a modality of pointing out the existence of the historical monument;
- The historical center of the city between development and protection.
The program of this event includes the launchimg of the volumes ”Ansamblul Urban medieval Botosani” by Eugenia Greceanu and "Monumentul X”, vol. I-II , presented by prof. Ioan Caprosu, respectively prof. Victor Spinei, member of the Romanian Academy, the opening of the restoration exhibition ”Art, Belief and Science” of the Restoration-Conservation Center of the Cultural Heritage, as well as study trips to the churches and monasteries within the county of Iasi.
The official opening shall take place on Thursday, 1 October 2009, at 9.00 with the blessing of IPS Teofan, Metropolitan Bishop of Moldavia and Bucovine .
